SUN System Administrator

 Responsibilities include local and remote administration of Solaris servers, system installations and upgrades, server preventive maintenance, implementation of security practices and procedures, monitor system performance, troubleshoot/analyze system performance and network problems, write scripts in administrative language (Perl, shell, etc), perform system restores as necessary and review error and audit logs.  Also, you will be working with vendors, IT staff and end users to troubleshoot problems under the guidance of the System Administrator Team Lead.

A candidate with the following experience is desired:

bullet

Previous hands on experience with a mission critical UNIX online environments

bullet

Able to troubleshoot network issues between a windows PC and web server including DNS, HTTP/S, and SMTP

bullet

Knowledge of DoD Information Assurance Practices

bullet

Able to work independently with general direction

bullet

Handle day-to-day system administration tasks such as account management, patch applications, system installations, and routine maintenance

Security+ *

bullet

Solaris 10 System Administration Certification*

bullet

Knowledge of Solaris Clustering

bullet

Familiar with Oracle products such as database, app server, and OID server

bullet

Used to IDE tools such as snort, tripwire, and BART

bullet

Write scripts in administrative language (Perl, shell, etc)

* A successful candidate will have 6 months from hire date to acquire these qualifications*
